Hello People!
Well...this week was jam packed with lots of stuff for us to do! The biggest difficulty is getting creative in our FINDING efforts because that’s what our week was full of! We expect miracles to happen though we just haven’t necessarily seen any yet! But I know they are there!
We did meet a new investigator, Bri. Bri is the neighbor of an investigator the Elders have been working with for a while here and she is actually the daughter of the Church of Christ minister that lead the Bible study from last week. When we found her she told us that she didn’t really like the Church of Christ and that she wanted to talk to us after the bible study because we knew a lot of the answers that everyone else didn’t know but we had to leave early! So that was an interesting encounter and it goes to show that there was a reason why we went! She’s awesome and reading the Book of Mormon. She is always super busy with work though so that’s our biggest struggle but she is on date for the 24th so keep her in your prayers!
A lady who is a returning member also has a nephew who, when we were over one time told us that he wanted to get baptized. So, we are trying to get in contact with his mother and hopefully will be able to teach him in the coming weeks as well. He’s 10 years old and loves the times when he has come to church with Mary Ann. Praying for that all to work out as well!
Other than those two there isn’t much of an update on anybody else. Elder Matthews and I are getting along fantastically! We are getting a lot better at teaching together too; so much so that we’ve been very creative while teaching hte Restoration and such at a door while we tract (which is a lot). Not bad creative, just fun! At least we think we’re fun...maybe it’s more we think we’re funny but I don’t know for sure! We like to teach the lessons all in story format too-it makes it so much more interesting! I gave him a blessing this past week because he wasn’t feeling well which was a really cool experience for me-it was the first time I’d given my companion a blessing! IT is so much easier to give a blessing to someone who you don’t really know in my opinion. But I think it was good and helped him a ton! That and excedrin! We also got matching ties for our meeting tomorrow and we have taken a lot of pictures together! Do y’all think we look alike? Because we keep getting that from several people!
Other funny stories:
- The Millbrook Sisters tried to get us to hold frogs that they caught at an appointment and carried to our apartment complex.
- We met up with some JWs in the park and asked them about their beliefs because no one else was really around. Biggest take-aways are (1) Jesus Christ was the “backup” plan because Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit and (2) Our spirits cease to exist after we die and only the righteous will be resurrected (Adam not being one of them because he partook of the fruit and in essence messed up God’s “original” plan.
- Winn Dixie is a grocery store that smells awful and we were contacting there during a storm. We almost got kicked out but the guy who was going to tell us to leave was cut off by us asking “Do you know Jasher?” (a youth who is preparing for his mission who works there) and we ended up talking to him about what missionaries do! Then we left.
Missions are great. I wouldn’t trade it for the world! But I’m dreading when Elder Matthews leaves me...life. Enjoy the pictures though! :)
Much Love,
Elder Milius
Godspeed,
